70 WEEKS TO ARMAGEDDON
Let's start from Hosea 5:15 (KJV)
"I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early."
This is a prophecy about the Lord leaving Israel to reach out to the rest of the world, and He left them due to their sins. It actually happened in Matthew 24:1 KJV
"And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple...."
From this point on, the Lord never went back to the temple. Now, for someone whose custom was to always go to the temple, this is very significant.
Luke 4:16 (KJV) says,
"And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read."
Let's move from Hosea 5:15 to the very next two verses, Hosea 6:1-2 (KJV)
"Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. [2] After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight."
Please, remember Psalm 90:4 says, "For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night."
This is also quoted by Peter in 2 Peter 3:8 KJV
"But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day."
Applying this to Hosea 6:2 means that Israel would wait for 2,000 years for their revival to come, that is, for the Lord to return to them again.
Bearing the above in mind, let us now look at Daniel's 70 weeks, each week being equal to 7 years, bringing it to a total of 490 years.
Daniel 9:24-27 (AMPC)
"Seventy weeks [of years, or 490 years] are decreed upon your people and upon your holy city [Jerusalem], to finish and put an end to transgression, to seal up and make full the measure of sin, to purge away and make expiation and reconciliation for sin, to bring in everlasting righteousness (permanent moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation) to seal up vision and prophecy and prophet, and to anoint a Holy of Holies. [25] Know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem until [the coming of] the Anointed One, a Prince, shall be seven weeks [of years] and sixty-two weeks [of years]; it shall be built again with [city] square and moat, but in troublous times. [26] And after the sixty-two weeks [of years] shall the Anointed One be cut off or killed and shall have nothing [and no one] belonging to [and defending] Him. And the people of the [other] prince who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end shall come with a flood; and even to the end there shall be war, and desolations are decreed. [27] And he shall enter into a strong and firm covenant with the many for one week [seven years]. And in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and offering to cease [for the remaining three and one-half years]; and upon the wing or pinnacle of abominations [shall come] one who makes desolate, until the full determined end is poured out on the desolator."
From Daniel's prophecy above, counting from that proclamation by King Cyrus (as recorded in 2Chronicles 36:22-23) to the death of the Messiah, would be 69 weeks of years, that is, 483 years (out of the 490-year clock which the Lord set for Israel in Daniel 9).
Since 69 weeks are accounted for, we are left with one week, which is equal to 7 years (from Daniel's prophecy).
Please, recall that we started this study by looking at Hosea 6:2, where we are told of a 2-day (2000-year) gap before Isreal is revisited.
This 2000-year gap, also known as The Church Age is sandwiched between the 69th week and the 70th week of Daniel.
So, when the Lord walked out of the temple as shown in Matthew 21, the 490-year clock was paused at its 483rd year, leaving Israel a 7-year period.
So, of the 490 years, Israel has done 483 years. They have 7 years to go. BUT before the 7 years, comes The Church Age a.k.a. 2 days of Hosea 6:2, which is 2000 years.
Notice that the 2000 years started at about AD 30. We're currently in AD 2024 (hence, the year 2024).
The 2000-year gap will be followed by the 490-year clock of Israel being restarted to finish off the remaining 7 years.
Those 7 years are the years that the antichrist would reign on this earth. Halfway into it, i.e. after 3½ years, The Great Tribulation will kick in. The antichrist will break his covenant (agreement/MoU/treaty) with Israel, and demand that Israel stops making sacrifices to the God of Abraham. He'll demand that they and the whole world should worship him (the antichrist).
Daniel 9:27 AMPC
"And he shall enter into a strong and firm covenant with the many for one week [seven years]. And in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and offering to cease [for the remaining three and one-half years]; and upon the wing or pinnacle of abominations [shall come] one who makes desolate, until the full determined end is poured out on the desolator."
As you know, Israel would rather go to war than drop their worship of the God of Abraham.
So, the antichrist will persecute them as well as the Christians (who weren't raptured) for the second half of the 7-year reign.
After the said second 3½ years, which is also the end of his 7-year reign, he'll gather a global army to attack Israel.
It's at this point that the revival Hosea 6:2 speaks of will happen.
Israel's enemy, the antichrist, will be arrested together with his false prophet (most likely, the Pope of the RCC), and cast into the lake of fire. This is popularly known as Armageddon.
Revelation 19:11-15,20-21 (KJV)
"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. [12] His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. [13] And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. [14] And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. [15] And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. [20] And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. [21] And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh."
Then comes Hosea's 3rd day (1000 years) wherein he said Israel would be revived. This is The Millennial Reign of Christ on the earth.
At the end of the Millennial Reign, judgement will follow. Sinners would be cast into the lake of fire. God will drop down a new heaven and a new earth, wherein we'll live forever and ever. Amen!
Revelation 20:11-15 (KJV)
"And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. [12] And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. [13] And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. [14] And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. [15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."
If you are not born again, you're invariably choosing the lake of fire as your eternal destiny. It doesn't have to be. There's a Heaven to gain, and it's for free, fully paid for forever.
All you have to do is to genuinely confess that Jesus Christ is your Lord, believing in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you'd be sure to make Heaven at last. If you'd like to do that, kindly say the following prayer and mean it:
Dear God, today, I come to You for salvation. I'm sorry for my sins. I accept that Jesus died for me. I confess that Jesus is the Lord. I believe that You raised Him from the dead. From this day forward, I belong to you. I am born again! Thank you, Father, for saving me! Amen!
Congratulations! You are now ready for the soon return of the Lord Jesus. Do well to pray for the Lord to guide you to a church, where you must begin fellowshipping with other believers immediately. They'll help guide you in this journey of faith.
