TWO SPIRITS IN A MAN
Since the creation of man, it's been God's will and plan to reside within every human being. His desire is to have a relationship with us, but He does not intend to impose it upon us, as a genuine connection cannot be forced. God did not desire a robotic relationship; instead, He wanted our relationship with Him to stem from our free will. Consequently, He made us with the ability and freedom to choose.
Nonetheless, relating to God is challenging because He is a Spirit, and anyone wishing to establish a relationship with Him must do so in the spirit (John 4:24). Fortunately, every person is not just a physical being but also a spiritual being. "But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding" (Job 32:8). Furthermore, every Christian has God's Spirit within him. "...as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people" (2 Corinthians 6:16). This is the only way for humanity to have a perfect relationship with God; anything else falls short of His original plan.
Unfortunately, not all Christians communicate with God as they should. Imagine sharing a room with someone who only talks to you when they need something from you. Now, envision that the house you both inhabit is actually your own. Can you fathom how that would make you feel? Regrettably, many Christians similarly live their lives this way with regards to God, and this needs to change.
To relate to God effectively, the focus must be on Him. Any approach that does not prioritize Him as the central figure in the relationship is worldly, futile, and ineffectual. God has already made us the focal point of His communication with us, so making ourselves the center of our communication with Him is akin to dialing one's own phone number trying to reach the same phone one is dialing with. Choosing to communicate with God does not make Him more godly; He is already God Almighty. Instead, God desires a relationship with us for our own benefit.
No one ever had a relationship with God without experiencing a supernatural transformation. For instance, Abraham welcomed Him (Genesis 18:1-15), and as a result, his wife miraculously gave birth to a son at the age of 90, while Abraham himself was 100. Moses conversed with God Almighty, and with a mere staff, he performed numerous miracles, including parting the Red Sea (Exodus 14:19-31). After a 40-day and 40-night communion with God, his face shone so brightly that no one could look at it (Exodus 34:29-35). This radiant transformation occurs whenever we spend time with God; our lives become luminous, and we grow in glory. Gideon encountered God, an ordinary man, and became a formidable warrior, defeating an army of 135,000 with only 300 men by his side (Judges chapter 7).
In the New Testament, Peter, who had denied the Lord three times during challenging moments, spoke boldly about Him. In a single meeting, before an unfriendly audience, 3,000 people were converted. This occurred after Peter and 119 other believers had spoken to God in unknown languages (1 Corinthians 14:2). Paul, who was once an opponent of Christianity, experienced a radical transformation after encountering the Lord on his way to Damascus. He maintained this line of communication for the rest of his life, and almost half of the New Testament of the Bible, the world's all-time bestseller, contains evidence of his ongoing relationship with the Lord God.
Finally, John the Beloved enjoyed a profound relationship with God, marked by extensive communication. The book of Revelation is a testament to their ongoing dialogue, allowing us to glimpse where the world is headed. It is possible to know what lies ahead, simply by establishing and maintaining a relationship with the One who knows the future and regularly communicating with Him. God desires this. We should too. Blessed be God forever! Hallelujah!
